How JQPT Works With Your Care Providers

JQPT women's health physical therapists work closely with OBGYNs, midwives, primary care physicians, and general practitioners, to provide comprehensive care for women of all ages.

    • Please fill out all paperwork from JQPT’s portal.

    • It is important to share any relevant diagnostic imaging, such as ultrasounds or MRI scan reports from your medical providers.

    • This information will help the physical therapist to develop a personalized treatment plan for you.

  • JQPT physical therapists will communicate progress notes, and may work with your care provider to coordinate your treatment.

    • For example, they may provide you with exercises to do to prepare for childbirth, help you recover postpartum, or help post mastectomy to increase tissue mobility and range of motion (ROM) post surgery.

    • They may also work with your care provider to get clearance for manual work or protocol progressions to address diastasis recti, incontinence, pelvic pain, scar tissue restrictions from C-sections or tears that may have occurred with vaginal births, or other women's health issues that you are experiencing.

  • JQPT physical therapists can continue to work with you after you have given birth or had any other women's health procedure such as post mastectomy.

They can help you to maintain your progress and to prevent future problems.

Here are some specific examples of how JQPT women's health physical therapists and care providers for women can work together to help patients:

    • A patient with pelvic pain may be referred to a physical therapist to learn exercises to help relieve their pain. The physical therapist can work with the care provider to make sure that the patient is doing the right exercises and that they are making progress.

    • A patient who is pregnant may need to see a physical therapist to learn exercises to maintain strength and ROM during pregnancy/prenatal wellness, preparation for childbirth, and to help patients get back to activities and exercises postpartum safely. The physical therapist can work with the care provider to make sure that the patient is participating in exercises and activities that are appropriate and to help patients progress quickly and safely towards goals.

    • At JQPT, our physical therapists have many years of orthopedic and women’s health experience, which is important to help patients return to activities they love faster vs seeing two different physical therapists (orthopedic PT and women’s health PT). This will help to ensure that you are receiving the best possible care.
